Launch Event! April 17, 2014

OSSI Seed packThe Open Source Seed Initiative is holding a launch event to coincide with the Via Campesina global day of action on April 17, 2014.   We will distribute our first seed packs containing 22 varieties of Open Source seeds.  Joining us in Madison, WI will be special guest Tom Stearns of High Mowing Organic Seeds, the only fully organic seed company in the United States.  He is a voice of enthusiasm for free seeds, and we are very pleased to have him involved in the Open Source Seed Initiative with us!

  1. Could you please post the names of the companies that will be carrying these seeds? The NPR story mentioned that two companies will be selling them, but didn’t say the names. Thanks for your work!

    • I found the companies on the National Public Radio website: High Mowing Organic Seeds in VT and Wild Garden Seeds in Oregon.

  3. This is the kind of initiative I have been hoping for! How do I get the seeds I have classified as Open Source? Is there some official registration? I have nothing special yet, but I have several varieties in process (about 3 years in on two different projects) and I want to wholly participate in this process…

  4. I was at the event and managed to get some outredgeous lettuce and joker lettuce seed but didn’t hear who produced them. Can you help me out? Thanks!
